Trip to Intra (Italy)
Cream cheese, mozzarella, parmigiano, pecorino, fish from lakes and rivers, a wide array of sausages, bread, pastries and various honey products ... it’s enough to make your mouth water!
I can heartily recommend visiting the market in Intra, which is held every Saturday. In addition to the culinary delights, visitors can buy shoes, bags, belts, accessories and much more.
An 'aperitivo' at EROS La Casera is also a must (www.formaggidieros.it). Many of the locals come here to savour the lavish and extensive selection of appetisers over a drink. Still hungry? Then go to the Osteria del Castello for lunch (www.osteriacastello.com).
Where: Intra-Verbania, Saturdays
Getting there: Approximately one hour by car
Time needed: Day trip
Special info: Don’t forget about customs regulations …
Tip: Since the lakeside road after the border crossing at Brissago (Madonna di Ponte) is often very busy, I find it better to go by ship.
