Cycling tour to Val Resa
In the spring, before I’ve really started getting fit, I enjoy riding a modern e-mountain bike from the Hotel Eden Roc to Val Resa. I start riding without the support of a motor, but benefit from a little mechanical assistance if I need it when the climbs get steep.
The route takes me via the golf course and the Maggia dam towards Solduno and Locarno S. Antonio. From here I follow the road to Locarno-Monti and Orselina, as this road is not so busy.
The climb to Orselina rewards you with a wonderfully panoramic view. Then I carry on in the direction of Contra as far as Brione, after which I take a left at the junction towards Val Resa. Passing stunning villas, the sealed road winds ever upwards until I reach Val Resa. For food and drink, I recommend the Grotto Al Ritrovo and the Al Grott Cafe.
Then it’s time to enjoy the rapid downhill run through Orselina and Muralto. All the hard work of the uphill stretches is definitely worth the effort.
